JESUS COVERED MY MESS, TO PROTECT MY FUTURE
This powerful message explores a profound truth that many of us need to hear: God covers our mistakes to protect our future. Drawing from Matthew 26 and Luke 22, we encounter Peter in the Garden of Gethsemane, where he impulsively cuts off the ear of the high priest's servant while trying to defend Jesus. What appears to be a moment of loyalty actually becomes a criminal act—equivalent to resisting arrest—that could have resulted in Peter's execution. Yet Jesus immediately heals the servant's ear, erasing all evidence of the crime. This wasn't just an act of mercy toward the servant; it was divine protection for Peter's destiny. Jesus knew that three years earlier, He had declared Peter would be the rock upon which the church would be built. If Peter had been imprisoned or executed that night, God's plan would have been thwarted. This teaches us that our past mistakes don't have to destroy our future calling. We've all messed up, even after walking with Jesus. We've all acted impulsively, spoken when we should have been silent, or tried to fight battles that weren't ours to fight. But God, rich in mercy, covers our mess because He sees our purpose. The challenge for us is to stop carrying the weight of forgiven sins, stop letting the enemy remind us of who we used to be, and start walking in the freedom of who God says we are. No more shackles, no more chains—we are truly free when we accept that God's grace is sufficient to cover our past and secure our future.
