YOU DON’T NEED A PIECE

What does it look like when God promises deliverance but the ship still breaks apart? In this powerful message drawn from Acts 27, we are taken aboard a vessel battered by a fourteen-day storm, stripped of cargo, food, and visibility, with no sun and no stars in sight.

The central question is not whether God will bring us through, because that promise is already spoken. The real tension lives in how we come out. The ship is going to be destroyed, and yet every soul on board survives. Some make it to shore on planks. Some make it on broken pieces. And some, according to the centurion's command, simply swim.

This passage holds a mirror up to our own storms and asks us to honestly assess which category we fall into. Are we waiting for a plank that was never meant for us, clinging to a piece of the wreckage out of fear, when God has already placed the ability to swim within us? The spiritual insight here is both challenging and liberating. God can allow something to break and save us at the same time. The boards still float. The pieces still carry. But for those of us who can swim, the instruction is clear, and following it not only gets us to shore faster but frees up the pieces for those who truly need them.
